Every week we will introduce you to some of the most adorable, adoptable pets available from our partner shelters Heart of Minnesota Animal Shelter, Tri-County Humane Society, Pet Haven of MN, Hawk Creek Animal Shelter, Underdog Rescue, MN, Midwest Animal Rescue & Services and Ruff Start Rescue. Join us Fridays as we introduce them to you on Classic Hits KDUZ.

Heart of Minnesota Animal Center – Walter

Walter is the most wonderful gent! This senior guy is finally ready to find a home all of his own. He has quite the story, and he isn’t shy about telling you all about it. He is a chatty boy and will make a great companion for a homebody. Walter loves to follow his humans around and has no problem letting you know when it’s meal time.

As many senior cats do, Walter has hyperthyroidism and mild kidney disease. He eats a prescription kidney diet and takes a pill twice a day. He is easily managed and has been cleared by the vet to be adopted! Don’t let his age deter you, he has a lot of life left. He will find a favorite little toy and bat it around on the floor. He loves to sit on your lap for TV time and enjoys watching birds outside the windows. He gets along perfectly with other cats. He is a bit of a crank towards dogs, and would prefer a home without, but he CAN live with him.

Walter is currently in a foster home while he waits for his forever home! Please reach out to coordinate a meet and greet. For more information contact the shelter by clicking here.

Ruff Start Dog & Cat Rescue – Lucy-Loo

My name is Lucy-Loo, and I’m your new snuggle buddy reporting for duty. I am a 2-month-old female Collie/Shepherd mix. I believe my puppy purpose is to shower you in love and puppy warmth, and though it is a job some take lightly, I do not. I hope you don’t either, because I love to be held in your arms! My foster mom says I might be too big one day, but I think I’ll probably still try.

My foster mom also says she’s the most calm puppy she’s ever had. I love to play and watch my foster siblings, but I love to sit and watch too. I am very smart and observant. I know “sit” and “kennel”, sleep through the night, and am doing very well with potty training. Mark my words, I’ll have it down in no time! I get along with just about anybody – children and cats included!

What do you think, am I the snuggle buddy you’re missing? For more information on Lucy-Loo and how to adopt, visit www.ruffstartrescue.org.

Hawk Creek Animal Shelter – Wilfred

Hello, my name is Wilfred and I’m around 10 months old. Husky and Lab are two of my probably many breeds. Car rides are one of my favorite things in the world.  I can never decide if I want to ride shotgun or in the back, so I can stick my head out and feel the breeze on my face. On walks, I do tend to pull some, but I listen when someone tells me to behave. I am definitely not a water dog, but I might drink water out of a hose if you have one! Energy is the name of my game and calming down with some sweet cuddle time is great too.

Midwest Animal Rescue & Services (MARS) – Venus

Hi my name is Venus and I’m a young Bulldog mix.  I’ve made the trek north from Texas and I haven’t looked back.   I am a very sweet and silly girl who just wants to be loved by my people.   I’m very eager to learn and my foster mom is working with me not to jump on people.  I just get so excited I can’t help myself, I do try to be gentle when I jump, but she tells me that its not nice.  I know come, sit and I’m learning off, down, to walk nicely on a leash and to shake paws.   I go into my kennel without complaint but I’m so used to living in one that I still have accidents in it.  I’m working on that too by the way.

I don’t bark a lot and I’m not destructive but since I’m still a puppy (more a teenager) my foster mom does keep a good eye on me.  I did get into her yarn stash but I just grabbed a ball of yarn and brought it to her … in my defense, it was on my level and looked like a ball to me.  Ohh did I mention how much I LOVE to play ball??  OMG its my favorite thing!!  I’m also working on dropping the ball when my foster mom says out.  I’m such a good girl that even when I don’t want to let go I give it easily.   I do entertain myself with toys and my foster mom does laugh at me all the time.  Who knew I was so funny??

I’m looking for a forever family that will welcome me into the family and love me forever because I deserve the best.  At least that’s what my foster mom says.  I know I can be a great member of your family, I just need a little patience and training to be the bestest girl for you.  Hey I’m a diamond in the ruff that just needs some polishing.

Tri-County Animal Shelter – Mittens

Looking for someone to gossip with? Mittens is known as one of our most chatty, social cats. She much prefers dishing with her favorite humans over playing with toys. Mittens spent some time in foster care to recover from some skin issues and raise her kitten. Mittens, who is now spayed and 6 years old, has been friendly with both dogs and cats in the past. Her favorite things include Temptations Treats and catnip. Mittens qualifies for our Fabulous Five Dollar Feline promotion and her adoption fee would be waived for a senior or veteran.

Underdog Pet Rescue of MN – Beth

Hi I’m Beth!  I have a story to tell you!!! First, I am a very happy girl who loves to play. I like ropes, balls, soft toys (I LOVE to rip them apart, hee hee!) and like bones. It is an absolute requirement that my forever home have a HUGE toy box for me!! I was born on 8/20/16 and weigh about 46 pounds.  I don’t need another dog nor a fenced in yard but would love it if you had it!

I was left in a shelter in Texas because I was pregnant. Lucky for me, Underdog heard about me and brought me to MN on a transport van with my new puppies. I was a very good mama and raised all my pups – they went on to find forever homes and I started heartworm treatment. Treatment took a few months, and I am happy to say that I am heartworm negative and ready to find my forever family!

I am a potty-training champion and even go potty when we are out walking with a leash. Sometimes I do pull on the leash because I get very excited to go out and explore. I would love a home that would either play with me or take me on a long walk or adventure every day for exercise. I am also a couch snuggling champion! I like all people from adults to kids and would look pretty cute in your family photos don’t you think? Fill out an application and let’s get started on our new life together!

Pet Haven of Minnesota – Felicity

Wonderful, sweet, sassy – that is Felicity! At 10 years of age, Felicity knows what she loves and knows what she could live without. Felicity would love to find a home where she can wear adorable outfits, have oodles of fluffy blankets to cozy up in (they are her favorite!), have time to sit outside with her human(s) enjoying everything around her, and a treat puzzle to keep her mind stimulated!

Because she is deaf, sight and smell are her guide, and she has some reactivity to motion. Her forever human(s) should be understanding, patient, and kind with her, and continue developing visual and touch cues. Essentially creating your own way of communicating with one another! Felicity is the absolute sweetest and will fill your heart and home with incredible joy!

What are things this 22-pound lady could live without you ask? Just three things fall on that list.  1. Other pets – she is way more comfortable flying solo.  2. Young children – she gets too overwhelmed with too much activity.  3. Apartment living – it may be tricky maneuvering in an apartment complex and limited visual stimulation is ideal.
